My story

Cake Me Away began in 2013, in a small, cosy kitchen in Islamabad, Pakistan, while I was still a university student.

I had always loved experimenting in the kitchen. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tarts... if I could find a recipe for it, chances were I was going to try making it.

Eventually, I started taking boxes of cupcakes to university and selling them during break times. Word travelled quickly and, before long, I became known across campus as “the cupcake girl.” What started as something I simply loved doing was slowly turning into something much bigger.

As the orders came in, I became fascinated by the creative side of cake decorating. I started with customised cupcakes and soon moved on to fondant cakes, handcrafted decorations and increasingly intricate designs.

I never attended baking or cake decorating school. Instead, I taught myself.

I spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials, learning techniques and then practising them again and again until I could get them right. There was plenty of trial and error along the way, but that process became an important part of how I developed my skills and my own style.

Social media was a very different place back then. I would simply post a photograph of a cake on Facebook and people would message me to place an order. Cake Me Away grew incredibly quickly and, before I knew it, my university hobby had become a full-time business.

Within just a few years, I had gone from experimenting with recipes in my kitchen to creating detailed, completely bespoke cakes from scratch.

More than a decade later, Cake Me Away has started a new chapter here in the UK.

Now based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, I specialise in bespoke novelty cakes, celebration cakes and wedding cakes, individually designed and handcrafted for each occasion.

For me, a cake should be more than something that simply looks beautiful. It should feel personal to the person receiving it. Whether I'm creating a child's dream birthday cake, something wonderfully unusual for a milestone celebration, or an elegant wedding cake, every design is created with the same attention to detail that I have poured into Cake Me Away since 2013.

It has been quite a journey from being known as “the cupcake girl” at university to creating cakes for some of life's most memorable celebrations.

But even after all these years, my favourite part remains the same: taking an idea and turning it into something you can celebrate, share and remember.
