Booking terms and conditions
Thank you for choosing Cake Me Away to be part of your celebration.
Every cake is freshly prepared and handmade to order. Please read these Booking Terms & Conditions carefully before confirming your order.
By making the required payment towards your order, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
Booking and payment
For orders of £70 or less, payment must be made in full at the time of booking.
For orders over £70, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining 50% balance must be paid no later than 3 days before your agreed collection or delivery date.
Your booking is not confirmed and your date is not reserved until the required initial payment has been received.
If an outstanding balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. Please contact us as soon as possible if you experience any problems making payment.
Orders placed at short notice may require payment in full at the time of booking, regardless of order value.
Customer cancellations and refunds
If you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible.
As our cakes are made to order and your date is specifically reserved for you, cancelling an order may result in Cake Me Away incurring costs and losses.
Where an order is cancelled, Cake Me Away may retain from payments already made an amount that reasonably reflects the losses directly resulting from the cancellation. This may include ingredients or bespoke decorations already purchased, work already undertaken and other reasonable losses directly associated with the cancelled booking.
Any refund due will be calculated according to the circumstances and the stage your order has reached at the time of cancellation.
We will explain any applicable cancellation charges and, where appropriate, the amount being refunded.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.
If Cake Me Away needs to cancel
It is extremely rare for us to cancel a confirmed order. However, illness, emergencies or other exceptional circumstances may occasionally make this necessary.
If Cake Me Away is unable to fulfil your order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and provide a full refund of all payments made for the affected order.
Where appropriate and possible, we may also offer to discuss an alternative date or arrangement with you.
Collection
Collection is available from Cake Me Away, HD3 3HL, Huddersfield.
Collections are by appointment only. Your collection time must be agreed with us beforehand.
Please arrive within your agreed collection window. As we work around confirmed bookings, we cannot guarantee that somebody will be available outside your agreed collection time.
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
We cannot provide a refund simply because an order is not collected on the agreed date or time where no alternative arrangements have been agreed.
Delivery
Deliveries are subject to a delivery charge based on location. The applicable charge will be confirmed before your order is finalised.
Please ensure that the correct delivery address and contact details are provided when ordering.
Once a cake has been successfully delivered and handed over in good condition, responsibility for its subsequent handling and storage passes to the customer.
Cake collection, transportation and care
Every cake is carefully checked before leaving Cake Me Away and is provided in suitable packaging for safe transportation.
At collection, we will provide guidance on how to safely transport, handle and store your cake. A Cake Care Card is also provided with every cake order so that you have the appropriate care instructions to refer to.
When transporting your cake, we recommend:
- Keeping the cake completely flat and level
- Placing it in the passenger footwell or another secure, level area
- Keeping the vehicle cool, particularly during warmer weather
- Driving carefully and avoiding sudden braking or sharp turns
- Never transporting the cake on a passenger's lap or on an uneven car seat
Once your cake has been collected, or successfully delivered by us, responsibility for its safe transportation, handling and storage transfers to you.
Cake Me Away cannot accept responsibility for subsequent damage caused by transportation, mishandling, accidental damage, incorrect storage, exposure to heat or failure to follow the cake-care instructions provided.
This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Warm weather
Buttercream cakes are particularly sensitive to heat.
Where appropriate, keep your cake refrigerated and remove it approximately 30 to 45 minutes before serving, depending on the room temperature and type of cake.
Do not leave your cake:
- In direct sunlight
- In a hot vehicle
- Near a radiator or other heat source
- In a warm room for prolonged periods
Cake Me Away cannot accept responsibility for melting, softening, movement or other damage caused after collection or delivery by excessive heat or failure to follow the storage instructions provided.
Bespoke and handmade designs
Every Cake Me Away creation is individually handmade.
We are happy to work from photographs and other sources of inspiration, but handmade cakes cannot be exact replicas. Small variations in colours, decoration, positioning, flowers, finishes and other handcrafted details are normal.
Where a particular decoration or ingredient becomes unavailable, we may contact you to discuss an appropriate alternative that maintains the overall style and quality of the agreed design.
Order details and customer approval
Please carefully check the details agreed for your order, including the name, age, wording, date, flavour, size, design, colours and other personalisation.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that information supplied to Cake Me Away is correct.
Cake Me Away cannot accept responsibility for errors resulting directly from incorrect information supplied or approved by the customer.
Changes to your order
We understand that plans sometimes change and will always try to accommodate small amendments where reasonably possible.
If you would like to make a change to your cake order, please contact us at least 10 days before your agreed collection or delivery date.
Changes cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the nature of the request, availability and whether ingredients, decorations or bespoke elements have already been purchased or prepared.
Changes may result in an additional charge. Any additional cost will be discussed with you before the change is made.
Requests received less than 10 days before collection or delivery may not be possible to accommodate.
Cake sizes and servings
Any serving quantities provided by Cake Me Away are approximate and based on our recommended portion sizes.
The actual number of portions obtained from a cake will depend on how it is cut and served.
Allergies and dietary requirements
You must inform Cake Me Away of any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements before placing your order.
Cake Me Away handles a variety of ingredients and allergens within the kitchen. We will provide information about the relevant allergens contained in your chosen cake before your order is confirmed.
Although reasonable precautions are taken to manage allergens and reduce cross-contact, we cannot guarantee the complete absence of traces of allergens that are handled within the same kitchen.
Where an allergy has been disclosed, we will discuss the relevant information with you before accepting the order.
Relevant allergen information will also be provided with your order where applicable.
It is the customer's responsibility to communicate the allergen information provided by Cake Me Away to anyone who will be consuming the cake.
Fresh flowers and non-edible decorations
Some designs may contain fresh or dried flowers, cake toppers, dowels, supports, wires or other decorative elements that are not edible.
These items must be removed before the cake is cut and served.
Children should be appropriately supervised when consuming cakes containing decorative or non-edible elements.
Photography and social media
Cake Me Away may photograph cakes and other products we create for use in our portfolio, website, social media and other marketing.
If you would prefer us not to publish photographs of your order, please let us know.
We will not intentionally publish your personal information without your permission.
Late or missed collections
It is the customer's responsibility to collect their order at the agreed time.
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
We cannot guarantee that somebody will be available outside your agreed collection window.
A refund will not be provided simply because a customer fails to collect an order at the agreed time or on the agreed date.
Damage after collection
Please inspect your cake when collecting it and raise any visible concerns with us before leaving.
Once the cake has been accepted and leaves our premises, Cake Me Away cannot accept responsibility for subsequent damage caused by transportation, mishandling, accidental damage, incorrect storage, excessive heat or failure to follow the cake-care instructions provided.
This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Complaints
We take great care with every order and want any genuine concerns to be addressed promptly.
If you believe there is a problem with your order, please contact Cake Me Away as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 24 hours of collection or delivery, and provide photographs clearly showing the issue.
Please retain the cake, or the affected portion where reasonably possible, so that we have an opportunity to investigate.
The request to contact us promptly does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Consumption and storage
For the best possible quality, please follow the storage and cake-care instructions provided with your order.
Recommended storage conditions and consumption periods may vary depending on the cake, filling and decorations used.
Cake Me Away cannot guarantee the condition or quality of a cake where deterioration has resulted from incorrect storage, freezing contrary to the instructions provided or keeping the cake beyond its recommended consumption period.
Events outside our reasonable control
Cake Me Away will not be responsible for delays or failure to fulfil an order where this results from circumstances genuinely outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, flooding, fire, significant power failure, road closures, major supplier disruption or government restrictions.
If such circumstances affect your order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to discuss the available options.
Nothing in this section removes any refund or other statutory rights that apply in the circumstances.
Acceptance of terms
By making the required deposit or full payment for an order, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts your statutory rights as a consumer.
Thank you for choosing Cake Me Away to be part of your celebration.
